UK-based investment manager Fidelity International has appointed Thomas Taw as its head of exchanged-traded fund ( ETF ) distribution for Asia-Pacific, ex-Japan, a role in which he will be based in Hong Kong and report to Damien Mooney, the firm’s head of Asia-Pacific, ex-Japan.
In this newly created role, Taw will lead the distribution and strategic positioning of the company’s ETF product ranges across the region. He will work in close collaboration with the firm’s ETF product teams globally, as well as institutional and wholesale sales teams in the region, to drive client engagement and further build out the company’s global ETF business in the region.
Taw brings nearly 20 years of experience in Asia’s financial services industry, spanning sales, trading, investments and portfolio advisory. He joins from BlackRock, where he spent the past decade helping to build-out the firm’s ETF business in Asia. Most recently, Taw served as its Asia-Pacific head of investment strategy for index and active funds, leading a regional team to deliver commercial growth across ETF and multi-asset solutions.
“The ETF market has grown significantly in recent years, and we increasingly see investors in Asia-Pacific keen to take advantage of the benefits of active management within ETF vehicles,” Mooney states. “Taw’s deep expertise in ETFs and his proven track record in building businesses across Asia will be instrumental as we expand our ETF offering to meet the evolving client needs in the region.”
